What is the resharpening process?
Thank you for
your interest in our equipment. The resharpening process is
very simple in theory and method. Counter-grinding a knife
will enable you to conserve knife steel as well as maintain or
improve your chip quality. A counter-ground edge is a more
effective chipping edge. By counter-grinding in the chipper, it is
easier to keep a sharp knife in your chipper. This could lead
to an improved chip quality. Sharp knives = Top quality
chips. We utilize the counter-grind method for these
reasons. The resharpening process averages about 30 seconds per
knife in length. There are two steps to initiate a grind:
A) Place sharpener on knife
B) Adjust abrasive to knife
Then you are ready to sharpen the knife (one pass to the outside
of knife, then back to the inside of knife is usually sufficient).
When grinding is complete, move to your next knife. Once the
abrasive is set, you can go from knife to knife without any further
adjustments to the abrasive.
The maintenance involved with this resharpener is simple.
Keep the tool clean by blowing the filings off the tool from time to
time. Also, blow out the grinder itself. This will
ensure longevity to the life of the grinder. The abrasive
discs will also need to be changed. One abrasive will sharpen
15-30 knives (depending on the user and how much pressure he/she
applies to the knife with the abrasive). Used abrasives may be
discarded or used elsewhere upon your discretion.
What does the sharpener cost?
The price of the new Series I Battery-Operated unit
is $1,055 and the Series I electric unit is
$925.00. The Series II
sells for $4,200.00. These prices include the tool itself,
a spare battery for the 18-Volt battery operated model,
storage container, wrenches, scraper, Kevlar gloves, safety glasses,
abrasives and instruction manual.

The cost of the abrasives
range from $1.25 to $1.95 each. The total cost of abrasives
per year may average from $32.00 to $150.00 per chipper, depending
upon the frequency of grinding and how many abrasives a mill will
consume.
Reduce Downtime and Decrease Costs
The use of this sharpener will improve your maintenance process
while at the same time greatly decrease the costs involved with
chipping.
IT WILL:
They work very well with face and pocket mounted knives as well
as the disposable and reversible knife systems.
